Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to all products and services operated by the Lawnchair project, including but not limited to Lawnchair Launcher, Lawnicons, and our website (lawnchair.app).
These apps are published by David Sn. at no cost and are intended for use as is.
We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.
How We Handle Your Data
We take precautions to ensure your data is safe from unauthorized access, sharing, or changes. We process your data using secure systems in compliance with GDPR’s principles of lawfulness, fairness, and transparency.
1. What Information We Collect
By default, we believe in privacy-first configuration.
We do not operate any server that collects, tracks, or stores personal data or usage metrics.
We only process data when you explicitly interact with our tools or community channels:
- Crash Reports: If our application encounters an error and you explicitly choose to submit it, system logs and crash details are sent via text-sharing services to help us fix bugs.
- Icon Requests: When you voluntarily request new icons through Lawnicons, an email is sent to our project inbox containing your email address, basic device metadata (manufacturer/model), and the technical component IDs of the requested apps.
2. IP Addresses & Cookies
Our website uses privacy-friendly web analytics (Simple Analytics) which tracks basic site usage without using cookies, identifying individuals, or collecting any Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
When you access our website or in-app network features, network infrastructure hosts temporarily process your IP address strictly to route web traffic and safeguard against malicious attacks.
We do not track users across third-party platforms, and we do not alter our behavior in response to browser Do Not Track (DNT) signals.
3. Where Your Data is Processed
Because we do not run proprietary databases, any data you intentionally send to us is processed through established global platforms. Website routing relies on distributed content delivery networks (CDNs).
Icon requests are received and held securely within Google’s global Gmail infrastructure. App updates and source code management are handled via GitHub.
4. Legal Basis for Data Processing
Under international laws like the GDPR, data processing requires a valid legal basis. We process data under the following criteria:
- Consent: When you explicitly submit a crash log or opt-in to experimental settings.
- Legitimate Interests: To maintain website security, prevent network abuse, and fulfill icon requests you explicitly trigger.
5. Detailed Information of the Processing of Personal Data
Our tools interact directly with standard external services to function. When using specific features, data routes outside our direct environment:
- Updates & Contributions: Fetching announcements, launcher configurations, or Nightly updates establishes a direct handshake with public network APIs (like GitHub or our website infrastructure).
- External Integrations: Features enabling third-party functions inside the launcher, such as search, connect directly to your chosen external providers and fall under their respective privacy terms.
6. Data Retention
We enforce strict lifecycles on the minimal data we do receive:
- Identifiable Email Records: Emails and device logs submitted via icon requests are permanently deleted from our inbox 1 month after processing.
- Technical App Data: The names of requested app icons are stripped of user context and aggregated completely anonymously into our open-source code repositories to implement icon updates.
7. Your Rights (Global Data Privacy Rights)
Depending on your location (such as the EU or California), you maintain legal rights regarding access, rectification, erasure, and porting of your personal data.
Because Lawnchair does not manage user profiles or store historical data tied to identity on proprietary servers, our structural capacity to look up or delete historical records is limited.
If you wish to exercise your rights regarding current email communications, please reach out via Section 9.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may modify this policy at our discretion to match project updates or legal shifts.
It is strongly recommended to check this page often, referring to the date of the last modification listed at the bottom.
9. Contact Us
If you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns regarding your privacy, you can contact an administrator at [email protected] or reach out privately via our Telegram Community.
